I am a fifth year Ph.D. graduate student in the
Dept.
of Geological Sciences at the
University
of Michigan where I am co-advised by
Professor Rod Ewing and
Professor
Udo Becker.
My research combines computer-based modeling and microscopy to better understand oxidation and dissolution processes on mineral surfaces, specifically uranium dioxide. This past summer (2005), I had the opportunity to perform research at Pacific Northwest National Laboratories under the guidance of Dr. Kevin Rosso and Dr. Eugene Ilton. In this on-going collaboration, we are investigating the interaction of uranium 6+ with magnetite surfaces using both experimental and computational techniques. Stop by our new Computational Mineralogy Group web-site at U of M! I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Geological Sciences in 2001. |
