Freehand vs. Illustrator:

Freehand is, hands down, the better software for 99.5% of what we do. It is smaller, faster, produces smaller (much smaller) files and has surprisingly better print controls.

Don't believe me? See what MIT hotshot Philip Greenspun has to say about 'em.

Freehand is the application I'll provide the best support for. I can't be nearly as helpful for Illustrator questions.

Powerpoint:

Powerpoint is not graphics software. At best, it is a tool for assembling parts from other applications into a sequence of screens. This it does adequately, if you are aware of its quirks. I don't create work in Powerpoint, so please don't ask. I can only offer limited help with the product.

Powerpoint and Posters:

If at all possible, use another software to make posters. Powerpoint was not designed for this job. Powerpoint. Is. For. Slide. Shows. And. Overheads.
